Donors of The Children of Lavie:
Over the last few weeks, I have received kind words from many of you, congratulating us on the NYU Award for Humanitarianism given to The Children of Lavie in October 2015.
I’m not only deeply honored to accept this award, I’m proud to have accepted it on your behalf; you who’ve kept The Children of Lavie committed to its mission even in difficult times. Thanks to your uplifting generosity, we’re planting the seeds of change, and opening up Lavie to this little corner of the world.
I am sincerely grateful and humble for the award and for your subsequent messages of encouragement. Without false modesty, this award is rather for you, our donors; you, our Board of Directors; and you, everyone over in the village of Lavie.
As many of you know, Lavie’s children and their parents are the mirror of my incurable optimism. As they try, fall, get up, dust themselves off and just keep on, so will I. Always. This award is the reward for their hard work. So will the Lavie Library, our project of priority. I’m sure you’d agree. When you buy the book, Kofi, a Child of Lavie, the proceeds will help make this, too, happen. You may make your year-end tax-deductible donation here.
I thank you immensely and ask you to please join us in saying thank you to NYU, NYU’s School of Professional Studies and the NYU leadership for this great recognition.
Sincerely,
Kofi Amouzou
